this is for the later part of July. I had moved the majority of my trips to the afternoon because of a few relative factors.
The first one and one of the more important factors was the bait. The greenies haven't showed until the afternoon. Secondly the water temps get so darn down right hot the fish seem to stop eating by 9 A.M. On more than a few days the bait perished when brought into the back waters where some days the water has reached 90 degrees.
With a start time of 5 going until 10 gave anglers a taste of the night fishing in Naples bay, fishing the snook lights. Before the sun went down we saw great action on the rocks of the Gordon river pass. The snook would eagerly inhale are white baits passing up the schools of glass minnows. when the day had a slack tide these rocks produced zip lock bag full's of snapper filets! The incoming tide seems to be the ticket, as dollar and shell bays produced good numbers of average sized snook on the upper parts of that tide. Another area that produced large numbers of snook on the incoming tide was the bank across from the old gas docks by the pass. I swear some days the snook were stacked on that bank like cord wood. However when flipper and his cohorts showed up is was time to move. In fact the got so bad one day they followed me to 5 different spots eating bait,snook and snappers right of the hook right at the boat.
